LOCAL PROJECTS
COMMUNITYPOOL
Our club has done several projects on the grounds of the Palmyra Community Pool. We built the shade pavilions to provide an asset for the community and a revenue stream for the pool. We also refurbished the benches and did some work clearing brush from the fence lines.
AMERICAN FLAGS
Our club places almost 150 flags along the streets on major holidays including Memorial Day, Flag Day, 4th of July, 9/11, and Veterans' Day.
STUDENT DICTIONARIES
Every year the Palmyra Rotary club provides ane student dictionary to every third grade student in the Palmyra School District. This project began in 2005, and has been a highlight of our club year ever since. The students and teachers all appreciate the gift.
INTERNATIONAL PROJECTS
FIGHTING DISEASE
We educate and equip communities to stop the spread of life-threatening diseases like polio, HIV/AIDS, and malaria. We improve and expand access to low-cost and free health care in developing areas. Since 1988, we’ve seen a worldwide reduction in polio cases of 99.9%. Last year we only saw wild polio cases in three countries.
SUPPORTING EDUCATION
More than 775 million people over the age of 15 are illiterate. Our goal is to strengthen the capacity of communities to support basic education and literacy, reduce gender disparity in education, and increase adult literacy.
PROVIDING CLEAN WATER
We support local solutions to bring clean water, sanitation, and hygiene to more people every day. We don’t just build wells and walk away. We share our expertise with community leaders and educators to make sure our projects succeed long-term.
